Focus

Year 9 students narrow their focus on future pathways as they decide on which subjects to choose for their GCSE options.  We are supported in school by FUTURE U who provide interactive workshops and activities designed to match skills to subjects and encourage students to aim high with their career planning.

Planning & Preparing

Year 10 Careers education involves being ‘future ready’.  We start to plan post-16 routes and get ready for the world of further study and work. 

• Skills for U by Future U – 8-week Employability Programme including lessons on organisation, communication, problem solving, resilience and teamwork skills. 

• Mock interviews
• Careers Fair
• Subject focussed trips and visits linking with local employers
• Work Experience Programme planned for 2021

Decisions & Applications

Building on lessons learned throughout their schooling, students are now required to explore their options and determine the best route forward for their individual strengths.

• 1:1 impartial careers guidance interview with Hannah, which forms part of the curriculum.

The exploration of careers continues in Year 12 & 13 with higher education, employment and apprenticeships being the focus of many talks, workshops and visits.  Raising awareness of mental health and resilience is also encouraged – ensuring students have a broad knowledge of their future options and how to set and achieve their goals.
