June is always a bittersweet month at Our Lady’s, whilst the culmination of a great deal of hard work and effort draws to a close with the end of KS4 exams, we also have to say goodbye to another Year 11 group, after we have nurtured and taught them for five years in Our Lady’s main school.
The official Year 11 Leaver’s Day was held on Thursday 16th June, though many students will tell you that their work at Our Lady’s was far from done, with many still coming in during the following weeks for revision and to complete coursework and online assessments. This date though was our final chance to join everybody together as a year group, to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. The students and their form teachers joined Mr Conboy and Mr Nixon for a fantastic service (led by Laura) and then the final assembly in which Mr Conboy spoke to the group about celebrating their successes and their lives ahead, and Mr Nixon read a touching poem he had written about the students’ time as Our Lady’s pupils. All in all it was a fantastic and moving morning, the students left school with big smiles on their faces but a tear in their eyes.
Best bibs and tuckers were donned, the boys in their smartest suits and the girls in their finery descended on The Globe Arena for a night of fun, food and LOTS of dancing. The venue looked nearly as amazing as the students, and the event felt really special – from the red carpet to the organza filled fish bowls!
As always the year group did the school proud – behaviour was impeccable, dance moves were on point and everybody came ready to have a good time – the staff of The Globe Arena and the official photographer all commented on what a polite and well-mannered group they were. Congratulations and thank you to the Class of 2015 for being such a fantastic set of young adults!
