Make Some Noise!

On the 22nd to the 23rd of September, 17 Year 9 and 10 students went to a young person’s event called “MAKE SOME NOISE”. Make Some Noise is an event which celebrates young people being young and loved by God and also celebrates Pope Francis and Don Bosco.

We arrived at about 6pm and dropped our bags off in our rooms and went to get something to eat. After that, we all gathered together in a big hall and did a lot of dancing to begin with and then a mini countdown begun to start Make Some Noise. We watched a video about Pope Francis and what he said in a speech then we tried something new called Ceilidh dancing which is similar to Irish dancing. This part was really fun because we went into small groups and danced with other young people. After all that dancing, we went into the canteen to get some hot chocolate. Next we went to an evening prayer where we sang lots of songs and hymns together and lighted candles and had a moment of silence to have contact with God.

After a fun night, we were all tired out so we went to get some rest in our classrooms. The next day we were up bright and early. We packed our stuff and put them in the hall and then went for a nice cooked breakfast. We gathered back together for Morning Prayer. Then we got to explore around school trying different thing such as going on inflatables, zip line and even going on a big Ferris wheel. Early in the afternoon, they opened some workshops for us to try out. This included cold baking, magic, taekwondo, song and hymn writing and arts and crafts. After a long day of fun, we gathered one last time in the Chapel for a big celebration of Mass, and then we were on our way home.

Some students commented about the event. “I think it was a really good experience for young people to make new friends and have fun at the same time as well as talking about their faith.”

“I thought Make Some Noise was a really fun weekend and it was nice meeting people from other schools and making 2 new friends. I would love to go again next year. The activities are amazing and the dancing is really good but you get tired out really quickly. Mass isn’t really long either and that was also really fun”

In my own opinion, I thought this was a great event to get to know other people and make new friends and also celebrating our faith and being young. This was also a great way to communicate with God through Prayer and is always nicely presented with joyful songs. I love going to this event every year and I would definitely recommend it if you are thinking of going. It is amazing!
