OLCC Primary Athletics Competition

Athletics Report

On Tuesday the 24th November 2015 Our Lady's hosted our annual primary sportshall athletics event. There were 7 primary schools taking part who are all a part of the OLCC SSCo cluster (Cathedral, St Luke’s, St Bernadette’s, Ryelands, St Joseph’s, OLOL (Carnforth) and St Mary’s) bringing over 100 students between them. Unfortunately St Patrick’s could not attend due to unforeseen circumstances.

After a briefing with Mr Lofthouse, the Our Lady's leaders, pupils from years 8 - 11, worked in groups to deliver an event. In javelin for example, the leaders coached the competitors in how to throw, took down the results, collated them and reported to the scorer.  Each leader had a specific responsibility, all were extremely efficient in their roles and as usual a credit to the school.

The atmosphere was amazing as the children cheered on their team mates to glory. It was great to see so many parents coming down to watch and support their children with over 60 in attendance. A special congratulations to Elizabeth Wearing from Cathedral who won the OLCC star award for her excellent efforts in the track events. It was a very close competition overall , there was only 100 points separating first and seventh! The results of the competition are as follows:

Gold Ryelands 500
Silver St Luke’s 452
Bronze St Bernadette’s 440
4th St Mary’s 418
5th St Joseph’s 416
6th Cathedral 410
7th OLOL 400
