Sports Report

Netball report written by Mr Seddon

One of the best things about being PSO in Sixth Form is seeing the students displaying their talents outside of the confines of the classroom or the study area. Having not had a girls netball team here for several years, I was genuinely excited at the prospect of watching our students play competitive matches against other school. I wasn’t to be disappointed.

Despite the drizzly conditions and the relative lack of practice, the girls put on a great show, performing with both skill and resilience to beat Morecambe High by 19 points to 17.

It was so impressive to see how the girls moved and passed the ball so quickly to often outplay the opposition, especially in the midfield (forgive my lack of netball terminology, I’m a football man!). Captain Emma Procter was linchpin in defence, leading the girls by example and ably assisted by Polly and Ruby. There was real energy and tenacity in the middle with impressive performances by Kaitlyn, Alice and Chloe. In attack, Toni and Cielo showed great composure under pressure to ensure we outscored Morecambe.

I’ll be honest, I know very little about netball but the ability, teamwork and effort shown by the girls’ performance during this match was both impressive and a pleasure to see. Well done girls from a very proud PSO!
