Imperial War Museum Visit

Year 9 had an enjoyable day out at the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester on Monday 22nd May.  They were a credit to themselves and to the school; the museum staff were very impressed with their conduct and excellent historical knowledge.

Whilst there, they saw ‘Big Picture Shows’, handled artefacts from the First World War and the Holocaust, and followed the personal stories of individuals affected by the conflicts of the 20th Century.  Many were moved by the piece of the World Trade Centre that forms part of the exhibit, and took time to reflect on the impact of conflict on all our lives.

Walking out to view the museum from across the quays, Mr Howarth and Mrs Haley were excited to have a glimpse of Andy Burnham, new Mayor of Manchester.  Students were far more excited by seeing ‘Upsy Daisy’ as we went past the CBeebies studio!
