Rounders Match Report
OLCC V MHS
On the 22nd June the Our Lady’s rounders team set off to play Morecambe High School(away). After a quick practice, the game started, Our Lady’s batting first and Morecambe fielding. We batted well and unfortunately had a few people stumped out but still managed to score a few half rounders. Soon, we began fielding with a great partnership between Danielle Flynn and Chloe Hirst, stumping a few Morecambe batters out with quick passing between them before stumping the base. Although we managed to stump some of their players out, they were still beating us at the end of the first innings, eight and a half to our five.
At the beginning of the second innings we batted really well and scoring a few more half rounders and we managed not to have as many players stumped out as we did in the first round. On her last bat, Emily Kelsall scored Our Lady’s first and last rounder. Once again, we started fielding and headed off to a strong start with Gracie’s very accurate bowling and Danielle and Chloe once again displaying great skill. In the second innings our fielding had improved immensely and we began to work as a team a lot more efficiently. There was a great catch made by Kathryn McCafferty as the game drew to a close. The final score was nine and a half to seventeen and a half and Victoria Curits was chosen as player of the match for her brilliant backwards hit throws and hand positioning to help the bowler.
The match was an excellent way of preparing ourselves for an upcoming tournament. We will also practice throwing and stumping the bases as quickly as possible so we are ready for the tournament. We saw some excellent play from both teams and would like to congratulate and thank all the girls who represented the school. Well done!
