Match Report - Football (Year 10)
Year 10 Football V Central High School – Match Report Monday 14th March
How the Mighty Fall! (This isn’t going to be pretty reading!)
It’s always difficult to write a match report when you’ve been beaten but even more so when you feel that for large parts of the game we simply didn’t compete. Central have by far the strongest team in the District as their appearance in last year’s Lancashire Cup Final confirms. We were severely under pressure for large periods of the game due to their slick passing and our being second to the ball far too often. The 10-2 score line doesn’t show that in parts we were able to compete with them when we had a bit of self-belief and were willing to graft for each other. Conor Price and Lewis Brittain were both determined in their pursuit to stop some very quick Central Attackers getting near to our goal. The few bright spells in the game were a number of super saves from Brandon Corless in goal and a very calmly taken penalty from Brandon Carter. Overall a disappointing performance with some clear areas to work on – especially self-belief in what we can achieve and determination to stick to our task and compete for each other.
Team Performance 6/10
Louis Thurlwell , Brandon Carter (P)
Man of the Match
Lewis Brittain – One of the few OLCC players who remained focussed, positive and determined to do his best for the team, especially when under extreme pressure. Well done!
