Separate Sciences (Triple Award) Future Careers Separate Sciences GCSE develops a wide range of transferrable skills that can lead into many different careers. These are skills such as; problem solving, data analysis, lab skills and teamwork. Careers sectors include medical, engineering, manufacturing, transport and education - to name just a few! Assessment There are six papers in total - two 1hr 45min papers for each Science subject. There are 8 required practicals per science (although we will carry out more than this!) 15% of the exam questions will be based upon the required practicals. Course Title GCSE Physics / Chemistry / Biology Examination Board Edexcel Specification/Code 1PH0 / 1CH0 / 1BI0 This course is an option for all students. You still study all three Sciences, Chemistry, Biology and Physics as a part of your main, compulsory curriculum. Due to the time needed to complete these subjects, you will also have to take the Separate Science Option. You will be awarded a GCSE for each. With more time to study Science, there is more time for subject mastery and to do practical work such as eye dissections and titrations. It is an excellent preparation for pupils considering further studies in Science at A-Level and University. Topics you will cover include: Homeostasis and response Inheritance, variation and evolution Chemical changes Chemical analysis Forces Energy Students will study the same topics as Combined Science but there will be more breadth and depth in Biology. In Physics and Chemistry there will be some additional topics. There will be a significant emphasis on practical work in the investigation of associated theories.
